Pitter patter, pitter patter!
It was raining heavily outside. Hugging our warm clothes closer to our bodies, we were enjoying the chill and breeze that accompanied the rain. At such times, nothing can compete with the pure pleasure of sipping a hot cup of coffee. I was lost in gazing and counting the raindrops when suddenly I realized – ‘Oh dear! Today is the Red Head Meeting Day and I am late! How could I forget?’
I pulled out my tote bag and ran like the wind to reach office on time. I was super excited for the meeting…. Reading this you would probably judge me, thinking, what kind of a boring lady am I. But trust me, once you find out the secret of our Red Head Meetings, you would probably bite your tongue.
So, what are Red Head Meetings? What is the point of a team meeting? Are they a talking-shop, or a vital organizational function?
Red Head Meetings are an intrinsic part of running a business. They allow every employee and department to work towards a common goal. Meetings are the best way to collaborate. Non-Verbal communication (facial expressions, body language, and gestures) is an important part of human interaction. Writing doesn’t convey the same message as can be effectively communicated in personal interactions.
It might feel that sometimes, we have meetings for meetings’ sake. And I share that feeling- team meetings shouldn’t be a chore or a matter of going through the motions. If your team meeting feels like that, then trust me it has lost its sole purpose.
Rather than being productivity killers, well-crafted meetings can help raise productivity and achieve an open culture within teams, says Jerene Ang.
Below are some perks & benefits of Red Head Meetings, ponder for a while - are your team meetings doing these things for you?

Can we make meetings fun and productive?
Here at Dramantram, we’ve tried to innovate and add fun elements in order to make the Red Head Meetings worth everyone’s time. Each Wednesday, when we get together, food, fun, games, and banter accompany the serious talk. Here Wednesdays are packed with fun, food, transfer of information, games, themes and what not. ‘Here are some ways in which we make our Wednesday meetings lively and much looked forward to the affair.
We’ve dropped drab introductions like, “You are probably wondering why we have gathered here today.” Yawn. Total bummer. Just like a speech gets attention by opening with a joke, a meeting needs to open in such a manner that it creates some excitement and positive sentiment.
Dark and poorly lit conference rooms with very little or no natural light restrain optimal productivity. Displaying golden or yellow colored flowers and light-colored decorative items give an extra edge to the meeting environment. We have taken care of the same by coolifying the workplace at Dramantram.
Pay a little attention to music too, even a couple of lines or some beats during the opening session will be enough to stir the room. It will uplift and music can also serve as a great means to stir up those sleepy brains in the morning. Try it, we have!
Light food items can also uplift the meeting mood. But mind you, keep them light, lest your employees are snoring away mid-meeting.
Spice it up: Incorporate some fun team building games towards the middle or end of the meeting.
Keep it short.
Team meetings have the power to make or break your team’s success. As a key part of this, laying the foundation for an effective meeting cadence is vital to keep your team members both motivated and engaged. Also, they are a great reminder that we are in fact a cohort not alone.
